Mindfulness is a state of active, open attention on the present. When you're mindful, you observe your thoughts and feelings from a distance, without judging them good or bad. Instead of letting your life pass you by, mindfulness means living in the moment and awakening to experience. Why is it so important to live in the present moment? Because the present is real; the past is gone, the future is not here yet – but if we constantly focus on either of them, we’re merely living an illusion. Living in the present moment has a dramatic effect on our emotional well-being, but it can also impact our physical and mental health. To be present in the moment has so much power and can affect your overall daily interactions and events. When you are living present in the moment you give your full attention to the feelings and thoughts that are occurring, this allows you to be more involved in those moments. We live in a society that is (for lack of a better word) "busy". Running through life, getting things done, deadlines to meet, and not always taking the time to be present. Mindfulness meditation can really help ground ones-self and practice being present. I found a great beginner exercise that can explain in depth how exactly to do "mindful meditation". https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/the-courage-be-present/201001/how-practice-mindfulness-meditation

We all know the potential benefits of cleansing: enhancing immune system function, weight loss, slowing premature aging, increasing energy, improving skin quality, improving mental and emotional clarity, subsiding cravings, improving elimination and bloating, and I could go on, but there are many things to consider before starting a cleanse. Things like timing, type of cleanse, and how long the cleanse is, can either make or break your cleanse. What are your cleansing goals? To lose weight or to get an overall internal organ cleanse? What is your lifestyle going to be like for the cleanse? Are you taking time off work or not? Is this your first cleanse? All of these questions are important to ask yourself before plunging into a cleanse. You want to chose a cleanse that is the right length of time and the right level for your body. Timing is everything. With cleansing comes detox and with detox comes detox symptoms, so picking a good time to do a cleanse is important. All cleanses and detox programs can cause detox symptoms such as headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and fever-like symptoms. So if you have an important meeting or presentation it might not be the best time to start a cleanse. It is best to have at least a couple days off if you have never cleansed before because you don't know how your body will react. Everyone is different and on different levels of health, some people don't experience any detox symptoms and some are in bed for a day or two. Also, some people can be addicted to sugars and caffeine which can amplify detox symptoms if they are not slowly decreased before the actual cleanse. There are many different types of cleanses to chose from. Cleanses can range from gentle to extreme, depending on what kind of cleanse you do. There are fruit and veggie cleanses, juice cleanses, herbal cleanses, and fasting. If you are a beginner cleanser then a fruit and veggie cleanse or an herbal cleanse you can use with a clean diet may be a good way to start. For more intermediate cleansers maybe you'd like to try a raw food diet consisting of wheat grass, green juices, and raw food. For expert cleansers you could try a juice fast with wheat grass. There are also liver/gallbladder, kidney, colon, parasite, and other specialized organ cleanses as well. These cleanses usually require the consumption of only certain foods and liquids and can be a little more extreme depending on the type. There are gentle cleanses as well. I like Blessed Herbs Cleansing Kits. They are very gentle and easy to incorporate in your daily routine. You should talk to your doctor to see what type of cleanse will work best for you. The level of your cleanse is also important. If you are busy or haven't detoxed before then maybe start with a 2-3 day cleanse. If you have done some smaller cleanses before you could be ready for a 7 day or 9 day cleanse. Some more advanced cleansers will cleanse for 21+ days with periods of fasting, but I recommend baby steps and consulting with your doctor especially if you have and health complications to factor in. The last thing you want to do is shock your body with something you are not ready for. Small cleanses still have great benefits. When you give your body a break from digestion and processing nutrients then your organs have a chance to clean themselves. So even one day of cleansing is better than nothing. To help reduce detox symptoms while cleansing, I recommend services that can aid the body in getting rid of toxins. Colon hydrotherapy, ionic foot spas, infrared saunas, exercise and other detox services can be very helpful in reducing the symptoms and speeding up the process of cleansing. The more you can help your body get rid of these nasty toxins while you are cleansing, the better you will feel. I hope these tips have helped and good luck with your cleanse! :) These days, a big chunk of our produce is genetically modified and now fish is the new experiment! They are calling it the "Frankenfish". How fitting. We are starting to realize the dangers of GMO produce but are GMO fish going to be worse?
What is a "Frankenfish" ? A "Frankenfish" is genetically engineered fish that grows faster and bigger than normal fish. "Frankenfish" can grow 10 times the size of normal fish in the first year. Salmon was the first species to be modified and we can be fairly certain that transgenic fish will enter the marketplace eventually, right now it’s waiting on FDA approval. Potential Risks for Consumers? There are unknown health risks of eating GE fish, scientists cannot predict the outcome of human consumption until it happens. There will also be a difficult task of trying to purchase unaffected fish. There may be no labeling of transgenetic fish, making it impossible to identify them in supermarkets. How Can I Make Sure I Am Buying Non-GMO Fish? Luckily, there are still options for getting quality produce and avoiding genetically modified food. Going "vegan" or "vegetarian" is the only concrete way to avoid it but, if you can't kick a no-fish diet here are some good options!
Norwex ProductsI am a guru for anything that can cut the use of harmful chemicals and conserve waste, so I had to share this! Last Night I had the pleasure of meeting Tammy Walker who is the Senior Executive Sales Leader of Norwex products. Norwex are cleaning products that not only healthier for people and the environment but are scientifically engineered to be more effective than any cleaning product on the market! Norwex products are originally from Norway and the company started out with manufacturing microfiber cleaning cloths. But what makes these cloths different and effective in killing bacteria is the embedded micro silver lining within it. I was amazed not only by the effective demonstrations, but also by the scientific evidence found by a third party testing the product. Check out this video I think you'll be as impressed with it as I was!

I love giving a gift that will not only benefit the person I'm giving it to but the environment too! I think these are great gifts that will be used and loved!
